Police are searching for a man who stole a Winchester .308 rifle from a Walmart in Bucks County by providing fraudulent “clearance” for the firearm, the Bensalem Police Department said.

The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, was seen entering the Walmart at 3461 Horizon Boulevard at around 2:31 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, while carrying an e-scooter. The man was then seen putting on a yellow vest and putting a rifle bag for sale around his shoulder.

“The male then approached an employee in the sporting goods department and presented fraudulent paperwork providing ‘clearance’ for a Winchester .308 rifle,” police said in a social media post.

The suspect was then seen entering a restricted employee only area and placing the rifle in his bag before leaving the store through the garden area, police said.

The suspect was also seen before the theft at around 1:50 p.m. on Friday traveling through the parking lot of the Neshaminy Mall, police said.

Anyone who can identify the suspect or has useful information is urged to contact Bensalem Police Detective Tom Jackson at (215) 633-3667.
